ROMANCE 'N ROSES FOR TWO

This ride takes approximately 40 minutes and must be reserved in advance.

Experience the delight, charm and romance of a by-gone era with a romantic carriage ride.  Your carriage and driver will be awaiting you with an elegant French Vis-à-vis and a dozen of roses.  Cuddle up to your loved one and let the sounds of hooves clip-clopping on the pavement create a memorable ambiance.

Choice of the following two routes for this special ride.

Park Avenue - Glide down a tree lined street where remnants of the Civil War era are visible in the grand historic homes.  You’ll enjoy the serenity as you view Galena’s 19th century architectural structures built by eminent steamboat captains, wealthy merchants and prestigious government dignitaries.


Downtown Galena - Your memorable ride will take you through the streets of Galena, formerly the busiest port between St. Louis and St. Paul. Enjoy the site of many quaint and charming shops, boutiques, galleries and restaurants.


Your ride will end in front of the historic Galena Post Office which is the second oldest continuously owned and operated Post Office in America.  This romantic ride is one you won’t want to miss.

An elegant French Vis-à-vis will carry you on a nostalgic ride, down Park Avenue past civil war era homes and buildings and then across the Galena River Bridge to the quaint and charming shops on Main Street of Galena. Learn of the various architecture of the many homes on the route and the wonderful history of Galena.  Let the rhythmical "clip clop" sounds of Jack’s or Clyde’s' shoes relax you while enjoying the historical ambiance of Galena’s 19th century architectural structures. The carriage will await you in front of the historic Post Office on the West side of the Galena River – in downtown Galena – behind the DeSoto Hotel.
